
Description
Our client, an innovative manufacturer and distributor of robotic freezers and bench-top devices to support laboratory automation, has an immediate opening for a Field Service Engineer. This role will troubleshoot, maintain, and repair client products.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and repair all client’s instruments and subassemblies on site and remotely
- Maintain a safe, neat, and orderly work area while servicing an instrument within the department, individual workstation, or customer facility
- Arrange air travel, car rental, and hotel accommodations
- Practice good laboratory practices while in a customer’s laboratory
- Keep assigned instruments current on preventive maintenance and service bulletins
- Report problems and perform root cause analysis on instrument failures
- Coordinate and schedule Field Service activities in assigned territory
- Utilize D365 to write Service Reports, RMAs, and Post Production Complaints
- Provide constructive and positive feedback on instrument products which may improve safety, reliability, customer satisfaction, or cost reduction
- Work with Technical Support Specialists to ensure service documentation is fit for purpose
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline from a regionally accredited, not-for-profit university preferred, or the equivalent combination of an Associate's, Vocational, Technical/Trade, or equivalent degree/certificate and at least two years of technical experience working in an electronic/electrical engineering environment with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electronics, electrical, mechanical, and computer systems
- Experience in technical field service and working with customers in the life science, clinical, or pharmaceutical field is preferred
- Must have at least 4 years of experience servicing sophisticated Lab Automation Systems/capital equipment
- Must have a basic Computer, Electrical, and Mechanical skill set
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move approximately 60 lbs.
- At least 1 year of soldering experience
- Demonstrated ability and desire to work to stringent department and company quality standards
- Ability and willingness to work in a safety conscious manner necessary due to potential hazardous chemicals, biologicals, and radioactivity
- Ability and willingness to travel overnight, and on consecutive nights sometimes with little to no notice subject to business requirements
- Ability to work additional hours and the flexibility to work overtime as and when required
- Ability and willingness to work with non-technical customers and co-workers in a professional and courteous manner
- Demonstrated working knowledge of company instrument application programs and personal computer disk operating systems
- Beckhoff Twin CAT, Elmo Studio, Vision Systems, and barcode reading would be an advantage
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft D365 Service module and other day to day functions
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems to the circuit board level
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical assemblies to the component level
