
Description
Our client, a company offering ultra-low temperature automated sample management systems for biological and compound samples, has an immediate opening for a Field Service Engineer. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing company products.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and repair all instruments and subassemblies, both on-site and remotely
- Maintain a safe, neat, and orderly work area while servicing instruments within the department, individual workstation, or customer facility
- Arrange air travel, car rental, and hotel accommodations for service trips
- Act as the primary field service engineer within the assigned territory, providing backup support to other regions as needed
- Ensure good laboratory practices while working in customers’ laboratories
- Keep assigned instruments up-to-date with preventive maintenance and service bulletins
- Report issues and conduct root cause analysis for instrument failures
- Coordinate and schedule field service activities within the assigned territory
- Use D365 to write Service Reports, RMAs, and Post Production Complaints
- Provide constructive and positive feedback on instrument products that may improve safety, reliability, customer satisfaction, or reduce costs
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline from a regionally accredited, not-for-profit university is preferred, or an equivalent combination of an Associate’s, Vocational, Technical/Trade degree/certificate, and at least two years of technical experience in an electronic/electrical engineering environment with demonstrated troubleshooting skills in electronics, electrical, mechanical, and computer systems
- Minimum of 4 years of experience servicing sophisticated lab automation systems or capital equipment
- At least 1 year of soldering experience
- Experience in technical field service and working with customers in the life science, clinical, or pharmaceutical fields is preferred
- Strong basic skills in computer, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move approximately 60 lbs.
- Ability and willingness to work in a safety-conscious manner due to exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals, biologicals, and radioactivity
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft D365 Service module and other daily operational functions
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems to the circuit board level and mechanical assemblies to the component level
- Willingness to travel overnight and on consecutive nights, sometimes with little to no notice based on business needs
- Ability to work professionally and courteously with non-technical customers and colleagues
- Knowledge of Beckhoff Twin CAT, Elmo Studio, Vision Systems, and barcode reading is preferred
