Key Responsibilities
- Husbandry & Clinical Care:
- Perform scheduled husbandry tasks, including routine clinical observations, basic veterinary care/treatment, and cage washing.
- Documentation & Supplies Management:
- Accurately document facility records and manage the maintenance/procurement of animals and facility supplies.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Maintain familiarity with the regulatory requirements outlined in the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals.
- Additional Duties:
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the manager.
Qualifications
- Communication Skills:
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to ensure close cooperation with laboratory personnel.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Basic computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Commitment to Animal Care:
- Strong dedication to providing humane, consistent, and quality daily husbandry and responsible care for vivarium animals.
- Interpersonal & Teamwork:
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team-based environment.
- Organizational Skills:
- Strong personal accountability with high levels of organization and attention to detail.
- Professional Development:
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a standing position for prolonged periods and perform repetitive motion tasks.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and moving heavy objects.
- Flexibility:
- Availability and willingness to work weekends/holidays on a rotating schedule.
- Certifications & Knowledge (Preferred):
- ALAT AALAS Technician Certification (preferred, not required).
- Working knowledge of industry regulations (preferred, not required).
- Education:
- GED/High School diploma required; a 2- or 4-year college degree in a related field is preferred.
