Description

: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Wire EDM Operator to produce precision parts by setting up and operating Wire Electrical Discharge Machines (EDM). The ideal candidate will ensure the highest quality and safety standards, maintain accurate records, and be responsible for the upkeep of equipment and supplies.

Key Responsibilities:

Essential Duties:

  • Planning & Preparation: Study work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, and specifications to prepare for Wire EDM operations.
  • Machine Setup: Set up Wire EDM machines by configuring parameters, including offsets, wire threading, flushing systems, and workpiece alignment.
  • Programming: Input data into Wire EDM machines, including zero points, cutting paths, and specifications derived from CAD/CAM software.
  • Workpiece Loading & Verification: Secure and load workpieces, verify machine settings, and check for accuracy using precision measurement tools.
  • Machine Operation: Monitor machine operations and take measurements to ensure conformance to specifications for first-run and sample parts.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot malfunctions, adjusting machine parameters to resolve issues as they arise.
  • Production Standards: Maintain production goals regarding cycle time, quantity, and quality, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.

  • Performance & Accountability: Consistently apply your skills and efforts to complete assigned tasks on time and to the highest standards.
  • Communication: Report to your manager if you do not fully understand the assigned work or encounter obstacles that may hinder task completion.
  • Workplace Behavior: Demonstrate work behaviors consistent with company values and adhere to policies, standards, procedures, and safety requirements.

Additional Duties:

  • Safety & Organization: Maintain a clean and organized work area, following safety procedures and regulations to ensure safe operations.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform basic preventive maintenance on Wire EDM machines, including cleaning, wire replacement, and dielectric fluid checks.
  • Documentation: Complete required paper and/or electronic logs to document actions and processes accurately.
  • Shift Continuity: Maintain continuity between shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and ongoing needs.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience operating Wire EDM machines or equivalent CNC machining experience.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of blueprint reading, GD&T, and part tolerancing.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software used for programming Wire EDM paths.
  • Familiarity with precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustments.

Knowledge of Wire EDM machine maintenance and safety practices.
